COVER THE UNINSURED WEEK!
Let’s Get America Covered!
Nearly 46 million Americans, including more than 8 million children, are living without health insurance – forced to gamble every day that they won’t get sick or injured. And that’s a risk no one should have to take. Uninsured Americans live sicker and die younger than those with health insurance.
You can help! Join thousands of other concerned citizens telling our nation’s leaders that health coverage must be their top priority.
Go to www.covertheuninsured.org to:
Tell Congress that health coverage must be their top priority.
Spread the word by sending this Cover the Uninsured Week e-mail to friends to ask them to help get America covered.
Get involved in Cover the Uninsured Week activities and show your support.

Hi Everyone,
I am producing another industry dinner.
The second Industry dinner will be Monday June 5th. At 7 pm.
How did these dinners get started? Some years ago, and actor told me that he
paid $300 to go to an event and meet 10 different casting directors and
agents and do monologues in one night. I got a little bothered that it was
so expensive to do, because that kind of money is not always affordable to
an actor.
It has been a few years, but with the launch of my book “The underground Actors Guide to Success- The Networking Bible for Actors”, I’ve decided to put in the time to make more of these great dinner events happen.
Why a dinner? A dinner keeps the flow moving. People talk eat, move around
the room. The dinner in essence is a delicious and real prop. Imagine if it
was just a room of people, it would maybe seem a little bit awkward. People
come together and connect over food and drink.
You should definitely read my book before you attend, to have an
understanding of the best way to connect with the guests, and how to stay in
touch. Besides all of the other amazing info that it will teach you.
I’ll have 10 to 15 agents, managers, producers, directors, casting directors
there. I’ll be calling them Key Holders for brevity- and because they are
the ones that can most easily open doors for you.
It’s a casual dinner in a nice location. It’s not about doing a monologue,
its about connecting with these people so they want to see you again.
Everyone will have tags, so you will know who they are when you see them.
In the past, I’ve had agents tell me that this is the best event they have
done, because they met so many people and didn’t feel the pressure of a 3
minute monologue and then a 2 minute critique and on to the Next person-
especially if they wanted to talk a little more.
My view is that making a connection or a friend is far better than reading
for someone once., and then never hearing from them again.
The location will be given out once you register.
…And the price is about the same as doing a workshop with a casting
director or agent, but there no membership fee like at a lot of the workshop
companies.
And by the way. If you think having an agent or a manager is the most
important thing- there is NO most important thing. One gets you another. If
you are cast by a producer or director in a picture, and you are doing good
work, and you are getting paid, you will easily get an agent or manager.
This can happen because you know the casting director, too. Of course, an
agent or manager can submit you, and if there relationship to casting or the
director is strong enough, then that will work for you as well, as if you
know the director personally. There are a lot of favors exchanged in this
business based on favors and relationships.
Below is a list of guests so far.
If an industry guest has a last minute project that comes up and can’t make
it, we’ll make sure to have enough great people to make it more than worth
while.
PS. Many of these producers and directors are actively doing film and TV
right now.
1. Bill kalatsky- That’s me. I just produced a reality show and am about to
do a feature film that I wrote. Just finalizing details. I cast, as many of
you know for pharmaceutical industrials and print, and submit talent for
jobs when appropriate.
2 Kevin McShane- Fifi Oscard Agency- they handle commercial and legit work
3. Barry Bergman, head of the Music Managers forum- US division will be
there, if you didn’t meet him at the first dinner. Barry has been in the
business for many years. Over the years, he has been with United Artists,
Sony, and now he is managing talent in both music and in acting. He
maintains a small and very exclusive roster. His contacts are vast, if he
wants to get someone in a door.
At the moment, these are the guests that are confirmed.
Over the next couple weeks, I will be sending out updates with the new
guests. Get in now, and trust me that the guests will be worthwhile, instead
of waiting and then paying a higher rate, or not getting in at all.
-And you’ll be getting a very nice buffet dinner – bread, salad, pasta,
chicken, – yes, you have to buy your own drinks.
The dinner alone would cost you $25- 30 in NYC.
So you can prepare in advance, you should have about 20 headshots to bring
with you ( I mention this, because some actors let me know they don’t have
enough at the moment) and you should also have the small business cards with
a photo on it, so they will remember you when they see your name and photo
on the card. It used to be an LA thing that everyone called “vain”. Today it
is a NY thing, and an important thing, too.
The Price for this event is $57 if you pay by April 30th (remember that it
is a deductible business expense)
On May 1st, the price will go up to $67
If there are any spaces left by May 15th, the price will go up to $75.. and
by the way, I don’t want to make the price higher, I just know that people
procrastinate until the last minute, and then it becomes messy and tedious.
And $85 at the door- if there is space available. Which I pretty much know there will not be.
Every time I’ve done this industry dinner, we’ve sold out.
To register go to ActorsNY.com/join.html and scroll to the bottom of the
page.
Please understand that once registered, you have committed to the event. You
can sell your space to a friend, if you can not make it, but the goal is
getting in early at the lowest rate, and committing to it. and committing is
a good thing.
There will be some raffles too:
If you have any questions, let me know.I hope this gives more of you that have been asking a good boost, and gets
your energy and excitement up.
Ps. If you haven’t read The Underground Actors Guide to Success yet, here is
some feedback that I’ve received.
“I didn’t realize that I can get into SAG. like you say in your book”
“C’mon Bill, it makes sense, but is it really this way?”
“Great Content”
And one person said “thank you for the information,” and told me some
interesting similarities about how he views things, and then wrote the
perfect email that applied everything I write about and practice., and we
will be sitting down in May to see if there is anything we can do together.
Have you read the book?
“The Underground Actors Guide to Success-aka- The Networking Bible for Actors”.–Really find out what you need to know to move ahead in the business. Reviews are in. “It’s like nothing anyone has ever told me before..I would have never thought that making the connections to get me work was so simple..”

be able to get this group all together again for a while. we will be
playing a wide range of new, original music as well as some more
familiar tunes, and the evening promises to be a total blast.
i hope you can join us!
sincerely,

ON TIME and it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you make a reservation. the
