The Colorado Dance Coalition (www.ColoradoDanceCoalition) will be hosting a fun-filled event, starting this Friday, October 13 at Parker Dance Academy, in Parker, Colorado. Mr. Robert L. Reed, renowned tap dance Master teacher and founder of The St. Louis Tap Festival, will be here for a limited engagement and the community is fortunate to have someone of his caliber offering to teach the tap students and teachers. The event schedule is as follows:Friday night (10/13): 7-8:30p.m. Community Tap Jam with Robert L. Reed.
Grab your shoes and your attitude and show off your tapping feet to other dancers in our community! Mr. Reed will explain what a jam is and how it is done. It’s a great way to break the ice and even pick up a few fun steps for your own repertoire.Saturday morning (10/14): 9-10:30 Robert L. Reed Beginner/Advanced Beginner Master Class. For students with less than 4 years of solid tap training*. Mr. Reed will teach proper technique to execute classic steps and help students use the whole package — ears, feet, and floor to make rhythm. Also great for the advanced tapper that wants to practice and perfect rudiments. Saturday morning (10/14): 10:30-12:00 Robert L. Reed Intermediate/Advanced Master Class. For students with over 4 years of solid tap training*. Mr. Reed will teach musicality and tonality of tap as well as dynamics and shading. He will cover how to create rhythmic patterns that communicate with the audience and fellow tappers. Steps learned have been passed down from many generations of dancers and these students will begin to understand the history of the art form by Mr. Reed’s explanation of the choreographer, the music, and the era in which it was created. For the serious tapper to understand the whole art form — learning steps, rhythms, and historical value. Both Jam and Master Classes will be held at Parker Dance Academy’s Upper Studio. (Parker Rd. and Parker Square Drive, behind Vitamin Cottage and between Parker Pilates and Cream of the Crop salon.)
